MotionDeck — Physics Camera with Real Head Tracking

Free: your head moves with the aeroplane - G-forces, runway rumble, turbulence and a real touchdown thump on all six axes, on its own or with your head tracking (not TrackIR). MSFS 2020 & 2024. Formerly Physics Camera.

Requirements

Requirements - Windows 10 or 11. - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or 2024 (Store or Steam). SimConnect only - no add-on package, no WASM. - Optional: opentrack-compatible head tracking (webcam, Tobii, TrackHat, phone) or TrackIR. Install 1. Extract the Physics Camera folder somewhere permanent (e.g. Documents\ClearedToCode). 2. Run ClearedToCode.PhysicsCam.exe (Windows may ask: More info -> Run anyway). 3. Optionally switch on Start with MSFS. Restart MSFS once, then click AXIS TEST in the cockpit. Notes - Full instructions, opentrack setup and uninstall are in README.txt.

About this add-on

MotionDeck (formerly Physics Camera)
Head tracking: works with Tobii, webcams (AITrack / NeuralNet), TrackHat and anything opentrack reads. Does not work with TrackIR at the same time - NaturalPoint's software doesn't allow mixing. No head tracker needed: MotionDeck works fully on its own.
Video guide: https://youtu.be/j_yv0f2G3Xo
Your head moves with the aeroplane. Brake and you nod forward, rotate and you press back, turn and you lean, rumble across a grass strip and feel a firm landing - driven by the aircraft's real physics every frame.
A custom build from ClearedToCode - an original application, not a rebuild, fork or re-skin of another camera mod.
Works with real head tracking
- Tobii, webcams (AITrack / NeuralNet), TrackHat, phones and anything else opentrack reads: send opentrack's output to MotionDeck (UDP 127.0.0.1:4242) and both are mixed together.
- TrackIR: while MotionDeck runs, MSFS takes its motion from MotionDeck; one click (or exiting) hands MSFS straight back to TrackIR.
Features
- Head inertia on all six axes (fore/aft, up/down, side, pitch, roll, yaw)
- Sustained G washes back to centre - no drifting view in long turns
- Runway rumble that grows with speed and knows the surface - grass, gravel and dirt are rougher than asphalt
- Touchdown jolt sized by your sink rate
- Turbulence, engine and prop vibration, stall buffet
- Automatic feel presets from the loaded aircraft: Airliner, GA / Piston, Turboprop, Fast Jet, Helicopter
- Only in the cockpit view; eases out when paused, slewing or outside
- Live head view, G meters, surface readout; one slider per effect
- Hotkeys Ctrl+Shift+P (on/off) and Ctrl+Shift+R (recentre)

Changelog

v1.0.3
- Beam Eye Tracker support via opentrack: new MY TRACKER choice with setup steps in the app
- Header shows BEAM TRACKING IN / NO BEAM DATA
- Warning when a second tracker moves the MSFS camera at the same time
v1.0.2
- Renamed to MotionDeck (formerly Physics Camera). Settings and auto-start carry over.
v1.0.1
- Fixed: turning on Auto-start with MSFS failed with "System does not support windows-1252" when another add-on had saved MSFS's exe.xml in that format. Physics Camera now reads and saves exe.xml in the encoding it was written in and leaves other add-ons' entries untouched.
v1.0.0 - Initial release
- Six-axis head physics, runway rumble by surface, touchdown jolt, turbulence and vibration
- Live mixing with opentrack head tracking; TrackIR hand-over
- Automatic presets for airliners, GA, turboprops, jets and helicopters

I've had MotionDeck installed, and I think it's absolutely amazing. It makes the flight simulation experience in MSFS 2024 so much better. Congratulations on the fantastic work you've done. It's simply brilliant. Thank you!

Amazing addon! Congrats once again on a great tool for MSFS. Can you make it work with Beam Eye Tracker? Thanks and all the best!

ClearedToCode replied

Thank you so much, Ralf! Beam Eye Tracker support is being built right now for the next MotionDeck update (1.0.3), with a short setup guide. I'll reply here as soon as it's live. -ClearedToCode

Claims nothing else is needed, but I found it DOES NOT WORK with TrackIR, unless you download something else called "Opentrack", enter port settings, etc, etc and lots of other complexity. I don't know why you couldn't just be honest and say "works with all head trackers apart from TrackIR". Sick of your false claims and more time wasted on something that didn't work ..... again

ClearedToCode replied

Hi DROGE, sorry it didn't work out for you, but nothing on this page is false. Everything you ran into is written in the description, in the section titled "WORKS WITH REAL HEAD TRACKING": 1) TrackIR is called out by name, on its own line: "TrackIR: NaturalPoint's software only talks to games directly, so no third-party tool can mix it in. While Physics Camera runs, MSFS takes its motion from Physics Camera; one click (or exiting the app) hands MSFS straight back to TrackIR." So the page says plainly that TrackIR head movement and the physics can't run together. That's a limit of NaturalPoint's software, and it's the same for every camera mod, which is likely why the last two didn't work for you either. 2) opentrack is only for the OTHER trackers. The line above it says Tobii, webcams (AITrack / NeuralNet), TrackHat and phones go through opentrack, with the exact settings (UDP over network, 127.0.0.1:4242). It was never presented as a way to mix in TrackIR. 3) "Nothing else to install" is about the app itself: Physics Camera runs on SimConnect only and needs no extra software for the physics effects. Head tracking is optional on top of that. So it's a fair question to have asked first, and the answer was already on the page before you downloaded. If you want, close TrackIR and try the physics on their own. They work fully that way. Happy to help on Discord: discord.gg/qzaeDtCxK

very nice addon.shaking effect better than fsrealistic.I am trying to use Track ir with it.

ClearedToCode replied

Thank you! On TrackIR: NaturalPoint's software only talks to the sim directly, so no third-party tool can mix it in. While Physics Camera runs, MSFS takes its motion from Physics Camera; one click (or exiting the app) hands it back to TrackIR. For physics plus head tracking together, use an opentrack-compatible tracker (webcam with AITrack or NeuralNet, Tobii, TrackHat). -ClearedToCode
