MSFS 2020 + 2024
Tested before release
Built by simmers
Requirements
- CTC Aircraft Maintenance 1.0 or later (PMDG Hangar does not load packs). - The **MilTech Simulations C-17 Globemaster III** from the MSFS 2024 marketplace - **MSFS 2024 only**. This pack does not work with the Delta Simulations C-17. - Windows 10 / 11, SimConnect.
About this add-on
Load the MilTech C-17A and CTC Aircraft Maintenance recognises it from the sim's title and ATC model, and opens a C-17A airframe with the full app behind it: tech log and MEL, part wear, home-station checks, MCC, generated documents, illustrated parts, flights - and a page no other aircraft has: Airdrop.
- Four F117-PW-100 engines on the Engines page, each with its cutaway, live parameters, two-hour trend and EGT margin; APU, oil, fuel flow and vibration tabs across all four.
- Four hydraulic systems at 4,000 psi, each with its primary (engine-driven), secondary (electric) and auxiliary pump, plus the RAT and the hydraulic transfer pump - the pump names come from the aircraft's own cockpit controls. The auxiliary pumps are a new part type with their own MEL item (29-11-04).
- 14 tyres and 12 brakes: twin nose wheels and twelve main wheels on two six-wheel body bogies, all twelve braked. Eight spoiler panels.
- Six fuel tanks: MAIN 1-4 with forward / aft boost pumps, extended-range ER 2 and ER 3, four crossfeed valves and the left / right fuel dump.
- Electrics GEN 1-4 and the APU generator; left / right packs and three air zones (flight compartment, cargo compartment, crew rest); engine fire loops A / B on all four engines and the APU; engine, wing, probe and windshield anti-ice; four IRUs; MFD L / C1 / C2 / R and the two HUDs; crew entry door, paratroop doors L / R, cargo door and ramp.
- 327 fitted parts on a new airframe. Checks: daily, weekly, A-check every 1,000 FH, C-check every 7,500 FH (home-station). C-17 planform and F117 engine drawings on the Status, Systems and Engines pages.
- Weights for the exceedance checks: MTOW 585,000 lb, MLW 585,000 lb (the C-17 lands at its take-off weight).
The Airdrop page
The Aerial Delivery System procedure, as the loadmaster would run it, in six phases: pre-drop (depressurise, PA), ramp & doors, arm ADS, jump lights, release, restow.
- Two modes: personnel (static-line jumps from the two paratroop doors, up to 102 troops) and CDS (container bundles over the open ramp, up to 40). Each step names the aircraft's own cockpit control it presses, the parts it cycles and the gates it needs.
- Gates read the live flight: airborne, in the 130-150 kt drop band, at or above the mode's minimum drop height (500 ft personnel / 300 ft CDS), below 25,000 ft, every required part serviceable. The green light and RELEASE stay blocked until all of them hold.
- ADS lamps PWR AVAIL, SYS ARMED, READY DRG and JUMP / REL on the page, and the jump-light switch off / red / green.
- Drop log: every drop with mode, load, height, speed and exceedances, per airframe, today and this flight; each drop also goes into the flight's timeline and the airframe log.
- ADS part wear and MEL: the ADS locks L / R (MEL 25-51-01), extraction chute releases L / R (25-51-02), jump signal lights L / R (25-52-01, category B), paratroop door actuators L / R (25-52-02, category B), plus a ramp and cargo-door cycle per drop. Lives are counted in drops. A part at the end of its life fails on its step and is written up; an open or deferred item on one of them takes the mode that needs it out of service - "No personnel drops with a jump signal light or a paratroop door unserviceable", "No CDS drops with an ADS lock, an extraction chute release or the ramp / cargo door unserviceable" - and the page says why.
- Opening the ramp or a door above 150 kt in the air is a ramp-overspeed exceedance on the flight and a 25-51-03 inspection write-up.
- Rehearsal mode (the default) runs the whole procedure on timers against the live flight and writes nothing to the aircraft; the drop is logged for real. A used C-17 arrives with drop cycles already on its ADS parts.
What it reads from the aircraft
The MilTech C-17 is a streamed, encrypted marketplace package, so nothing is read from its files. The pack's bridge talks to it over SimConnect only (no MobiFlight, Lorby, SPAD or FSUIPC) with a catalogue of 190 of the aircraft's variables, found in a saved flight made in the C-17: 156 switch positions and 34 computed states. Every 5 seconds it reads the hydraulic pump switches, boost pumps, generators and bus ties, engine shutoff valves, bleeds and packs, engine / wing / probe anti-ice, the fire-panel and smoke-detector states, IRUs, APU and battery, OBIGGS, emergency lights, the ramp position and the MFD / HUD modes. A presence scan on the Setup page reports which of the 190 answered on your version of the aircraft. In 1.0 the bridge collects these readings; linking them to the airframe's parts is the next pack update.
What it does NOT do yet
- No failure injection, and none planned until MilTech adds one. The C-17 exposes no failure request variable: its fire-detection vars are the fire panel's pushbutton states, its smoke-detector var is a selector. Writing them would press a button, not start a fire. Every defect on this aircraft is tech-log only, and the bridge refuses to write any switch.
- Live airdrop is read-only in this version. The page knows the real cockpit control behind every step (the ADS mode and open / close switches, CDS ARM, chute releases, the CCL JUMP switch, the lock releases, the ramp and door buttons, cabin depressurisation), but the value each one takes, the lamp meanings and the switch positions have not been verified on the ground yet. Live mode - sending those presses to the aircraft and reading the lamps back - stays refused, with the reason on the page, until a pack update after that verification. Rehearsal mode is always available.
- Every weight, limit, flap placard, part life, check interval and price is an estimate from real-aircraft knowledge (the package files cannot be read), marked "estimated" in the app. The ramp / door opening limit and the 130-150 kt drop band are estimates too.
- The mapping of the six tanks to the sim's tank slots is a guess until confirmed live. The EGT limit (650 C) is the real F117's; if the add-on's engine model reads hotter, the app may log an overtemp on take-off - tell us on Discord and we will adjust the pack.
- Pack version 0.2.0.
Install
1. Buy and download `CTC-C17-Pack-miltech-0.2.0.amm` from clearedtocode.com.
2. In CTC Aircraft Maintenance open Tools › Aircraft packs (the tab next to Setup & SDK) and press Install .amm - pick the file. The app checks the pack's signature and lists it.
3. Load the C-17A in MSFS 2024. The app matches "C-17A Military Airlift" and opens the airframe; the Airdrop entry appears in the navigation.
One signed file; unsigned or altered packs are refused. Remove it from the same page.
